CHILDHOOD:
Actress Omotola who hails from Ondo state, began her elementary school at Chrisland located in Opebi, Lagos and continued her education at Oxford Children School. For her secondary education, the actress attended Santos Layout and Command Secondary School in Kaduna.
At the age of 12, she lost her father and her
dreams to pursue her education was almost shattered until she was
sponsored to school by a great community of Ondo men, Ekimogun Club. At
age 15, she began struggling with her widowed mother where she started
her career in the entertainment industry.
To further her education, she attended Yaba
College of Technology (YABATECH), where she studied estate management.
Despite her educational background, the young girl who studied business
management is now a talented actress.
ACTING CAREER:
While waiting to gain admission into the
university, Omotola decided to try her hands on modeling and it was
during this period that she discovered her talent in acting. In 1995,
she accompanied one of her friends to a movie audition and decided to
also audition for the movie. The director Reginald Ebere was impressed
with her performance and gave her the lead role in the movie, Mortal
Inheritance.
Mortal Inheritance was a huge success and was tagged as one of the greatest Nigerian
movies of all time. From her debut in the movie until now, she has
acted in lots of movies among which are Blood Sisters, Last Flight to Abuja,
All of My Life, Games Women Play, Lost Kingdom 2, The Woman in Me and
many more. Omotola is such a versatile actress that she is quite popular
and successful in the English and Yoruba sectors of the Nigerian Film Industry, Nollywood.
In 2010, Omotola starred in her first cinematic movie, Ije alongside talented actress Genevieve Nnaji. In 2017, she produced the movie Alter Ego and also starred in Kunle Afolayan’s movie, The Tribunal.
The talented actress has gone on to win over 40 domestic and international awards.
She is considered Africa’s biggest box office actress. In 2015, Omosexy
as fondly called celebrated her 20th anniversary in the entertainment
industry.
In 2012, Omosexy launched her own reality show,
Omotola: The Real Me, on Africa Magic Entertainment. This made Omotola
the first Nigerian celebrity to star in her own reality show.
MUSIC CAREER:
In 2005, the actress began her music career and
released her debut album titled, GBA. The album produced the singles
Naija Lowa and The Things You Do To Me. Her unreleased sophomore album,
Me, Myself, and Eyes, brought in production from Paul Play and Del B.
AWARDS:
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has earned several awards
and recognitions nationally and internationally. The lists are endless
as she keeps bagging several awards every day. In 2017, she won the Best
Actress awards at the Nollywood Travel Film Festival and Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival.
She has won a lot of awards and also nominated for several awards.
MARRIAGE:
After the death of her father Oluwashola Jalade in
1991, the beautiful screen diva struggled with her widowed mother in
taking care of her young ones. Not long after she met and married
Captain Mathew Ekeinde in 1996.
In 2001, the couple finally decided to stage their
white wedding ceremony which took place on board a Dash 7 aircraft
while flying from Lagos to Benin.
The private wedding had in attendance close friends and family. On
March 30, 1997, the Omotola gave birth to her first daughter and
together they have four lovely children, Princess, M.J, Mereiah and
Michael.
Following many years of success and hardwork the
young girl who moved from Ikoyi to Iyana Ipaja on Friday, March 23, took
to her Instagram handle to celebrate her husband as he turned 50. The
couple also celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary.
However, stunning Omotola turned 40-year-old on Wednesday, February 7 and was highly celebrated by her loved ones. In celebrating her new age, the actress planned a five days event which was well attended by her colleagues in the industry.
